Tampere University  is currently recruiting for a very exciting course on the ECIU Engage platform, 'ECIU AI assistant hackathon'. By joining this challenge, you’ll develop AI prototypes that serve as personalised assistants for assisting individuals in learning and in competence development in digital environments (AI chatbot) or Virtual Realities (AI avatar).

This module will be delivered in a blended learning format, which means that physical presence at Tampere University will be required between 11th and 14th March. During that week, you will participate in the key part of the module- the hackathon. Not sure what this is? Hackathon is an event where people engage in rapid and collaborative engineering over a relatively short period of time, where the main objective is to create functioning software by the end of the event. Upon successful completion of the course, you will be awarded 2 ECTS.

Here is how the organisers describe the course:

Through a dynamic program combining online sessions and an intensive three-day workshop at Tampere university, you will learn how to create AI agents capable of providing personalized assistance in learning and competence development, such as in the ECIU Engage platform. With opportunities to design assistants with different characteristics, response styles, and functionalities, you’ll have the freedom to create, innovate and experiment. Guided by workshops, expert mentoring, and peer collaboration, you’ll develop a prototype that balances ease of use, response accuracy, and effective learner guidance. Your designs will be evaluated by AI specialists, pushing you to deliver impactful, practical solutions.

Please note, there is limited funding available. Lodz University of Technology can provide a travel and accommodation grant for up to two students to participate in this course.
