The ECIU Board and other governing bodies of the ECIU consortium convene at the University of Stavanger to make strategic decisions regarding the alliance.
Between the 1st and 4th of October, the University of Stavanger is hosting an event which plays a pivotal role in shaping the future of the alliance - the ECIU board. Upon arrival, the guests received a warm welcome from the local mayor of Rogaland's county in Norway and the university authorities.
The ECIU board meeting coincides with meetings of several other groups which also play a key role in designing the future of the consortium, such as VP Education, VP Research, Student Agora and Institutional Coordinators.
One of the most important items on the Board's agenda is the Education Strategy for ECIU University. It is based on the ECIU University Vision 2030 and the ECIUn+ project objectives. The key points were related to shaping the future of higher education in Europe and other issues which are high on the EU agenda: European Degree, European Degree Label and general trends in European universities. It was all discussed during the Vice-Presidents of Education working session on 2nd October. Lodz University of Technology was represented by Dorota Piotrowska, director of ICC at TUL, University professor and an education expert.
Below you can find some of the questions which the VP Education group is currently debating on in order to enhance the Educational Strategy for ECIU University:
- Defining the uniqueness of the ECIU University learning pathway: What makes ECIU University stand out and attractive to students and staff?
- What do we want the ECIU University to be in the future for its learners?
- Relating to the quality and attractiveness of the Educational Portfolio: facilitating and nurturing ELOs created jointly by several ECIU member universities and focusing on strengths in the educational offer of the partners.
During these four days of packed agendas and intensive meetings, there was also a section dedicated to students. At the Student Agora, representatives of student unions from ECIU member universities discussed the future of the consortium from their perspective. Students also had an opportunity to meet with other groups present in Stavanger, such as the ECIU Board, where they could voice their opinions and share their visions for the future of the ECIU.
Sessions and discussions will continue until Friday, 4th October with the 2-day ECIU board meeting remaining a central part of the event.
