Representatives from across the ECIU alliance met at Dublin City University on 22–25 September for a series of high-level meetings, providing a platform for university leaders and representatives of different ECIU bodies to exchange perspectives and advance cooperation across the Alliance.
Throughout the week, Dublin City University hosted meetings of several ECIU groups, including the Student Council, Education Council, Research and Innovation Group, Institutional Coordinators, Vice-Presidents for Education, Vice-Presidents for Research, Innovation Directors and the Intellectual Property Rights Group. The ECIU Board met on 24 and 25 September.
Lodz University of Technology was represented in Dublin by members of the university leadership and experts involved in different areas of ECIU cooperation. Prof. Krzysztof Jóźwik, Rector of TUL, participated in the ECIU Board Meeting, accompanied by Dr Dorota Piotrowska, Director of the International Cooperation Centre and TUL Institutional Coordinator for ECIU. Prof. Łukasz Albrecht, Vice-Rector for Science, took part in the meeting of the Vice-Presidents for Research, while Prof. Witold Pawłowski, Vice-Rector for Student Affairs, participated in the meeting of the Vice-Presidents for Education. Dr hab. Agnieszka Dybała-Defratyka, Head of TUL’s Research Support Department, represented the university in the Research and Innovation Group.
The meetings provided an opportunity for representatives of ECIU member universities to exchange experiences and perspectives and to continue developing cooperation within the Alliance in education, research and innovation.
An important part of the programme in Dublin was a ceremony at which Dublin City University conferred an honorary doctorate on Professor Enrico Letta, former Prime Minister of Italy and author of the 2024 report on the future of the European Single Market. The ceremony took place at The Helix on DCU’s Glasnevin Campus. In his address, Professor Letta highlighted the importance of collaboration, dialogue and openness at a time of significant challenges for Europe.
