On 20–21 May 2026, Poznan University of Technology hosted representatives of Polish and European higher education institutions involved in the European Universities Initiative, including Lodz University of Technology as a member of the ECIU University alliance.
The first of the two events was the 3rd European Universities Conference, whose programme was built around three key pillars addressing the most pressing challenges facing European higher education today: education, research and innovation, and responsible internationalisation. Topics discussed included the European Degree Label, micro-credentials, geopolitical challenges affecting international cooperation, and the importance of creating synergies between the Erasmus+ and Horizon Europe programmes.
Running alongside the conference was the 1st European Universities Practitioners Forum – the first event of its kind in Poland dedicated to professionals who coordinate and implement alliance activities on a daily basis. The Forum provided a valuable platform for exchanging experiences, discussing operational challenges, and sharing good practices developed across European University alliances. The programme was organised around five thematic tracks: education, mobility, communication & promotion, management, and finance, enabling participants to focus on issues most relevant to their everyday work.
Lodz University of Technology was represented at both events by the ECIU Office, and participation in these meetings provided a valuable opportunity to exchange knowledge and good practices with colleagues from other universities involved in the European Universities Initiative. The insights and experiences gained will undoubtedly support the further development of activities carried out by Lodz University of Technology within the ECIU alliance.
