From 9 to 11 September 2025, representatives of Lodz University of Technology (TUL) participated in the face-to-face meeting of the European Consortium of Innovative Universities (ECIU), hosted by TU Hamburg. The event brought together academic, administrative, and student representatives from member universities to work on the future of ECIU Learning Opportunities (ELOs) and their integration into joint study programs.

The agenda included thematic sessions dedicated to compatibility with the European Degree, repeatability and recognition of ELOs, inter-university collaboration, and quality assurance. Participants explored how ELOs can be designed as stackable, certifiable modules with clear learning outcomes and assigned ECTS credits. Discussions also focused on aligning institutional systems and procedures to support transnational delivery and recognition.

A key highlight of the meeting was the active participation of students from TUHH, whose contributions brought a valuable learner-centered perspective to the discussions. Their insights helped shape conversations around flexibility, accessibility, and relevance of ELOs in real academic contexts.

Representing Lodz University of Technology were Adrianna Kozłowska and Izabela Gołacka from the Center for Teaching and Learning. Both took part in working group sessions, sharing institutional experience in integrating ELOs into existing systems and contributing to the development of shared frameworks for validation and recognition.

We extend our sincere thanks to our hosts at TU Hamburg — Dorothea Ellinger, Andrea Brose, and Siska Simon — for their warm hospitality, excellent organisation, and thoughtful facilitation throughout the meeting.

Participation in the ECIU F2F meeting reflects TUL’s ongoing commitment to educational innovation and international collaboration. Through its engagement in the ECIU network, the university continues to shape European standards for flexible learning, micro-credentials, and joint academic initiatives.
