ECIU at the Internationalisation Congress in Gdansk

At the 1st Internationalisation Congress in Gdansk, the Lodz University of Technology presented activities carried out under the ECIU and the FOCI project.

The 1st Internationalisation Congress organised by NAWA National Agency for Academic Exchange took place in Gdansk, Poland, on 13-14 May 2024. For 2 days, 48 panellists from 14 countries discussed internationalisation and the whole event attracted around 300 participants onsite and over 150 online. Lodz University of Technology also actively participated in the congress.

The Director of ICC at TUL and coordinator of ECIU University at TUL, Dr Dorota Piotrowska, TUL Prof., chaired a panel discussion entitled: 'International education programmes', during which an international group of experts debated issues such as:

  • joint/double programmes/diplomas,
  • new trends arising from the European University Alliances initiative,
  • lessons learned from the European Degree pilot programme,
  • the concept of flexibility arising from micro-credentials.

Discussions included new trends in European University Alliances or lessons from the European Degree pilot programme. Andrea Brose, ECIU University Educational lead, talked about the micro-credentials available at the European Consortium of Innovative Universities. The objectives and conclusions of the FOCI project, which investigated the foundations and main principles for the introduction of the European Degree, were also presented. The project was carried out by 3 consortia, represented by different universities, including the Lodz University of Technology, and at the congress in Gdansk, the results of the project were presented by its main coordinator Aleksandar Šušnjar, an expert working with the Quality Assurance and Improvement Centre, YUFE consortium.
